	6" Stainless Steel Pocket Ruler Buy new: $1.89*I OWN*About as cheap as you can go if you just need a little precision rule, a lot of brands sell these little rules at lowes home depot and many other stores they are virtually identical.
	Starrett C604RE-6 6-Inch Steel Rule with Inch Graduations Buy new: $19.95*HAVE OWNED*Quality, extremely versatile, Starrett has many deferent styles and size rules and every single one I have ever seen is immaculate in every way. This style of rule in particular is the hand down favorite for me for versatility.
	Starrett 51931 S436erlz 0-12"wr/S Set Starrett Outsde Micrometr Buy new: $2,863.80*HAVE USED*The ultimate micrometer set for any shop, anywhere hands down . Unfortunately it’s not the ultimate price you would be lucky to find it anywhere under $2,200-$2,500 dollars. Don’t dismay most tool co. offer many many many deferent styles and size micrometers in sets or individually.
	Starrett 224 0-6 *HAVE OWNED*A much more affordable alternative to a large range micrometer set is one with interchangeable anvils. The only reason these are not seen often is the fact you must check and if needed calibrate them each time you change an anvil. Extremely versatile, still reasonably accurate and vary affordable considering the alternative to a full “true” Set.
	Starrett 66 Thickness Gage with 26 Straight Leaves Ranging from .0015-Inch to .025-Inch in Thickness Buy new: $46.55*I OWN TWO*Simply the best, I hate to say it, but it's worth the price considering the majority of the ones on the market.
	Starrett 83B-6 6-Inch -InchYankee-Inch Dividers with Ouick-Spring Nut Buy new: $44.18*HAVE OWNED*I really, really wish I had not sold it off. It was by far the best made, best feeling easily and quickly adjustable divider/circle scriber I have ever owned. It reminded me of the fine germen set my grand farther had for laying out lithograph dimensions. The spring nut let’s you quickly adjust it in or out, saving the threads and saving time.
	Starrett S229GZ Telescoping Gage Set with Case Buy new: $169.10*HAVE OWNED* I bought and used the 229D (2 1/8“~3 ½”) and 229E (3 ½~6”) to help rebuild a few cars of mine over the years. Just about the cheapest way to go if you need to accurately measure at more then one spot in a bore or long hole (a piston bore in an engine block is a prime example).
	Starrett C434-12-4R Combination Set with Square, Center and Reversing Protractor Buy new: $228.75 / Used from: $160.00*HAVE USED*If you every find the need to own one, whether it be a full set, half set or just a plan combo square Starrett is a vary good starting point. Quality, precision and durability are what Starrett is about when it comes to lay out tools.If you don’t need top durability but still want the quality I recommend their 435 series with cast iron heads.
	Starrett 52171 443z-3rl 0-3"rs Ln Cse Starrett Depth Micrometer Buy new: $199.00*HAVE USED*A vary specific tool, used to measure the exact depth of a hole or slot for precision taping or doweling. I like this one because it fits almost anywhere, especially in a corner. A cheaper but less accurate version of this would be their 236 series depth gauge, it's a slide rule W/base that you can measure deeper holes without changing rods. You can even do angled ones if need be.
	Starrett 25-441J Dial Indicator Buy new: $119.93*HAVE OWNED*Not this exact one (I had the 25-141J) but this face size (No 25). You really do need to do your home work on which face style, range and rev you want but this AGD size is the most popular and most accessories on the market fit them well.
	Starrett 657T Magnetic Base With Flex-O-Post Assembly Buy new: $191.70*HAVE USED*Extremely versatile, stable and vary easy to position around oddly shaped things (it's sometimes hard to find a flat spot near the work). I personally used to own their basic 657AA and it was just as nice as this one but not nearly as user friendly.
	Starrett PT14398 Carbide Point For Pocket Scriber No. 70AX Buy new: $15.30*HAVE OWNED*I vary well made scriber with replaceable tips. The long slender point allows virtually unobstructed views of your work regardless of how you’re holding it. It also makes you hold it farther up the tool so as not to over apply presser and dig in more then needed or desired.
	Starrett S117PC 5 Piece 1/16-Inch to 5/32-Inch Center Punch Assortment in Plastic Case Buy new: $27.45*HAVE USED*One of the highest quality set of center punches I have ever used. A Vary usable hardness and the metal was well tempered for reshaping on a bench grinder. They also have a set of prick punches (816 series) that are perfectly ground and tempered for precise center punching without breaking the tip if you need to adjust the center slightly.
	Carson Optical Clip and Flip Magnifier Buy new: $5.45*I OWN*Absolutely love this type of hands free magnifier, the review is more detailed.
	CRC 14050 12-Pack 16 oz. Cutting Oil Thread Cutting Lubricant Buy new: $91.99*I USE*An amazingly versatile cutting oil for hand machine work.
	Turtle Wax T-468 Ice Liquid Polish, 16 ounces Buy new: $17.57*I USE*Ok this one was kind of thrown in, but if you have precision measuring tools you want to protect the bear metal parts right??? I used this stuff on every tool I own that has a bare metal surface and it keeps the finish absolutely new looking and prevents rust/corrosion without being oily or adding thickness.
	New Balance Men's MW926 Walking Shoe Buy new: $34.47 - $117.00*I OWN*The absolute best for a shop/work environment that doesn’t require leather, steel toe or puncher resistant shoes/boots. It’s not really a tool but being comfortable while you work on you feet can be better then therapy.
	Letter & Number Punch Buy new: $18.50*I OWN*(not this exact brand though)Opps I almost forgot, these little guys can make a small and deep permanent mark on just about any malleable surface. The best way I’ve ever know to put down info on a self made tool or something you want to catch in the hands of a shop thief. Also when rebuilding an engine or having one machined there is “no excuse” for mismatched parts.
